The Florida Parenting Plan (Form 12.995(a)) is required in every Florida family law case involving time-sharing with minor children, even when the parents agree on everything, and it's the document that spells out, in enforceable detail, how two parents will actually raise their child(ren) once they're living apart. Rather than leaving those decisions to informal understanding, it requires the parents (or the court, if they can't agree) to commit in writing to a day-to-day custody and visitation schedule, who has authority over major decisions like education and healthcare, how holidays and school breaks are split, transportation and communication arrangements, and a dozen other practical questions that otherwise tend to become sources of conflict. Once signed, notarized, and approved by the court, it becomes a binding part of the family law case, the schedule everyone is legally expected to follow, and the standard a judge would apply if a dispute over it ever came back to court.
